4 Weeks

In Honor of the girls being born 4 weeks ago today, here's somepictures from the last couple weeks. I'll get something with a littlevideo put together. I need to get a more solid schedule forpublishing. We're getting almost 5 hours of straight sleep at night a lot oftimes. Pretty good. They're still very nice and we like 'em. Tomorrow we go get weighedagain to see how much into 6lbs we are. Last week Abby was at 6'4"(6'7" at birth) and Maddie was 6'2" (5'14" at birth).

Enjoy

The girls are here!

Monday afternoon our two girls were born at Banner Desert at 2:31PM. Abby weighs in at 6 lb 7 oz and 19 inches. Her sister Maddie weighs in at 5 lb 14 oz and 20 inches.

The girls were 37 weeks and 1 day along. They have no issues to speak of and are sleeping soundly in the room with us as I type this. Both have about the same amount of dark hair. Both are not technically identical, but very obviously sisters with many similar features. We couldn't be happier.

Both girls and Mom are doing great. We were "scheduled" for Friday at 10AM, but these 2 proved that we actually can't plan everything and decided today was the day.

Though the 3 girls may go home Thursday or Friday after turkey dinner, Thanksgiving came 3 days early for the Hansen's!

Bear Lake 2005 Video

I'm about to post (and send a disc of) the slideshow / video I've made of the Bear Lake trip this year. Before I do that, I uploaded the one I made 2 years ago. I think most have seen this. Not sure if I sent it on DVD back when I made it. Forgive the fact that I seemed to only use one song when I made it :)

The twin chronicles - update 24 weeks, 8-21-07

Today's report. Ultrasound taken Tuesday, August 21st. All is well. No issues or concerns being watched. Both kids are growing at approximately the same rate. Heartrates identical at 150bpm. Some pretty cool views of functioning heart valves and 3D scans that looked better than they have before now that they have some more meat on their bones than before.

For a quick comparison, remember where they were 4 months ago today. They were just specs compared to an estimated 1lb 8oz and 1lb 9oz today. They could feasibly survive if birthed now (though it would obviously be a long haul).

Video (6:58 edited for your viewing pleasure. 3D views start at about the 4 min mark)

Photos

Twin "A" 3D view. Caught in a yawn. Kinda cool. To the left of her head is the head of Twin "B". The ultrasound layer is looking through that head, so don't be concerned - it is a whole head. :)

Twin "B" 3D shot. Pretty good view. Right arm held up.

Heart view (Twin "B" AKA: the topmost baby from the exit). All 4 chambers & valves functioning properly.

View of a pair of feet.

Princess Town!!!!!! 2 Hansen Girls!

The news is here. The babies are girls and Jason will be outnumbered 4-1 (counting Harley of course). Princess town here we come!

We had about 40 minutes of ultrasound recorded on DVD (don't worry, I only have some clips of just the action-packed moments below, not all of it). These were taken at 16 weeks, 2 days. Full-term due date is 12/9/07, with a high likelihood of that being a couple weeks earlier due to twins.

Note that Twin A / Twin B is noted at the top-left. Each is usually situated side-by-side from each other on screen. You see the "wall" between them frequently as they are each separated in their own sack.

The report is that all is well with both. Both very active (though Tawnya can't really feel activity yet). Both are approximately 5" long. Heartrates at 150bpm. Proper blood-flow, finger/toe count, kidney count and neck measurements. Measured the heads, nasal bones, necks and femurs. Both inspections of the brain lobes and cerebellum show no excess fluid on the brain. Amazing stuff.

It'll be fun to watch and compare how much room they have now compared to each of the ultrasounds that follow. (At least 1/month from here on out)

Enjoy!

Intro to "Twin B" (Note the instant flip around at about :24)

Twin B Nasal bone measured

Twin B Heart Inspection

Twin B Femur Measure (2CM on each twin)

Twin B Heartrate + Skeletor view

Intro to "Twin A" - View: arms, legs & smashed by the sister

Here's Twin A pushing back on the sister. Notice the wave right at the "camera." View of the heart then a rollover as if to say, 'leave me alone, please.'

Twin A nasal bone measure. Then she rolls over and gives some arm stretches. Note that the dark spot is the stomach

A little head butting. Note the visible wall between them. View of Twin A's right hand, back & kidneys. Ends with a dual-head shot of each.

Head to head - 3D view. Note that Twin A's blurred both times as she turned her head and made it look a bit strange.

Twin A laying face down. View of Twin B's back. Rump shot of Twin A.

Beans!

Human beans!
Success!
So: There's 2. Twins!
Both are where they should be for about 7 weeks: 6-7mm
Visible heartbeats (amazing in itself for something 1/4 inch long)
Good heartrates at about 125/min.

Next ultrasound in a week and then we'll have to pick a normal baby dr.

Harley the frisbee catcher

Got some new Frisbees at wal-mart that float much longer. We go over 10 catches in a row now quite often.
